Being green

Being a green photographer is not easy but I try to find eco-friendly solutions for every part of my company. Here are a few, but if you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me.

Recycle

Recycling

Businesses can cut costs and reduce waste by becoming resource efficient. Waste costs money - not only through the cost of disposal but also through the value of wasted materials.

I make sure all paper waste is reduced to a minimum and things that can be recycled, will be.

Paper

Paper

I use Tecco for my photographic paper. I believe they have superior quality to any other company.

Tecco gained CoC (chain of custody) environmental certifications for FSC and PEFC which means they support and operate sustainable foresting.

Inks

Inks

Why choose Epson? Epson has switched the packaging for the ink cartridges used in its large format printers from conventional white cardboard to 100% recycled brown cardboard.

The gray dyed plastic used for its ink cartridge casing was also changed. Switching to colour-free plastic has reduced some of the molding processes, which reduces the environmental impact of the production processes.

Equipment

Whenever possible I look for the green option. For example my blu-ray drive is made from 100% recyclable material. My computer is water-cooled which gives me better performance but also reduces the electrical output.

I run my monitors in eco mode whenever I'm not retouching to conserve power. Every little bit helps.
